  1. Absolutely Beautiful! I think you are ready for Oprah….the world needs to hear KP and possibly see some of those dance moves too if so privileged!! :)-

  2. I too can commiserate. My father was creole and my mother is Spanish, Chinese and Filipino. Growing up in the South made me feel alone because I could never relate to anyone culturally. Back then uniqueness was not celebrated as it is today. I look forward to more posts form you!

  3. I absolutely love your energy, openess and honesty.
not to mention your inner beauty that shines on the outside. you are a true angel

    peace my sister

  4. I just would like to say that I love your blog. I’ve been following you for a while. I also follow you on IG and see that you host Curls and Cocktails! (which by the way is something I plan on attending .. Definitely something on my bucket list lol) but this is why I am writing you. Me and some of my other curly headed friends have started a natural hair organization at our university! We are very excited because we have just got the approval and now as of today we are an actual organization here at Oakland University! (Woot woot) but now we need help. We are planning a coming out expo type of event and we are kind of at a stand still at trying to decide what kind of things we would like to have there. Do you have any ideas or tips that could help us out?

    1. Thanks! You could host a mini expo. Invite local natural salons to do easy demos: twists, protective styles, etc… Have a panel to answer questions on healthy hair education, product or controversial topics like hair typing. Invite local bloggers/vloggers to either be on the panel or talk about their journey. Maybe have a hair show or have a contest: frotastic, perfectly
protective, long hair don’t care…get creative! Best wishes!! Xok

  5. I agree with everything that you wrote growing up for me wasn’t the easiest especially growing up in Miami for 12 years. Always getting picked on. Other kids used to say I don’t look mixed. They thought I was Hispanic and that I was lying about my background. They thought mixed hair was 3c hair only. I wish ignorance would get wiped off the earth. And I believe in everything in your 2nd paragraph you are a real woman. When someone asks me where my clothes are I simply say I’m wearing them…because I can, because I feel comfortable in them and I’m young and in shape why not? Keep doing what you love and don’t stop being yourself. Love, GiGi Stay Fabulous! 😘

  6. If I had your number I would dial and let you talk me out of this frenzy I’m experiencing in this exact moment. I just chopped off my hair and it’s liberating… I think but I honestly don’t know how I feel. Katie came and she brought a pair of scissors with her and some things happened in my bathroom just now. I have a baby ‘fro and shit but I’m used to my shoulder length press out. Pray for me. Whooosah
    #rant #panicattack #toolatetochangeit #whichiknewfromthefirstrefreshingsnip #talktome #saytherightthings #ithinkyouremyhairdiety #dontgetmadGod #imjustplaying okay for real though. I need some natural hair sister reassurance

  7. I apologize if this isn’t the appropriate forum for this, I couldn’t find an ail address for you, but could you recommend a natural hair stylist (or a few) in Nashville? Is love to get my natural hair trimmed/shaped but also, possibly a sewin. Any suggestions you have are greatly appreciated. XOXO

    1. I’m so sorry! I’m just seeing this. I actually don’t know of any one in Nash. I still go to Atlanta to get my hair done. If you ever go down, look up Fatima at Afrodisiac:) xok

  8. I follow you on IG and love seeing your experiences for this thing call life:)

Im reaching out to you to see if I can send you a PillowBonnet. It’s a great product that protects both your hair and your face. Rather than the Bonnet going on your head, this one goes on your Pillow. It’s made out of Peau de Soie fabric and is very durable, stain and waterproof. I promise it will change your life. Myleik, Lexi, NaturallyKela, Itsarkeedah and many more have it and love it.

If you would like to learn more, please email me at morria.bowens@hair-routine.com

Thanks so much and have a great day!

  11. So I knew you had a blog but never read it (nothing against you I just don’t really get into blogs lately). I started yesterday and can’t stop reading it. You are a truly amazing woman and I’m so glad that God saw fit for you to be soul mates with James. I love you because he loves you. I appreciate all of your post from your love of pets (I’m an animal lover), big hair, James, family, friends, love, pain, and food (I LOVE a lover of food). Shout out to the girls who aren’t afraid to EAT! Thank you for being so open and honest with your life. You don’t have to do that but you do and I know that your life inspires so many people. I belive that God put us here for one another and that our lives are not about us but about helping others. I KNOW with all of my heart of hearts that you are helping people. I LOVE YOU KENYA! You inspire me!
